London is always exciting and it’s obvious that is season was more about something new and something fresh. Ed Marley was dark and little bit Club Kid. This time round it had a very Galliano sensibility, of course the styling added to that feel. Velvet Bustiers and laced up jeans suddenly looked fresher. 5 watches on the velvet top with pinstripe trouser said something about opulence. Definitely. A one to watch.
Caitlin Price was a knock out. So precise and but still easy. It was sporty but much like Marley there was still a focus on trying to make it sexy. Those cut out mini dresses and low slung trousers really added to that. The tracksuit in that satin fabric with those pleats took it from council estate to something about luxury and the working class.
Mary Bensons collection felt a lot more glam that the other two but in a very punk way. Sharing the same vein as Marley it didn’t feel as precise but all the ideas were there. The styling brought out more a 70’s vibe and those stain glass style prints showed a lot of promise. This was a strong collection for her but you still get the sense that she has much more to offer.
