Music by Prince and a Bruce Weber film accompanied the Versace Spring/Summer 2017 menswear collection.
Before Versace’s latest menswear show took place, photographer Bruce Weber’s campaign film ‘Chicago is my Beat’ premiered.
Donatella Versace and Weber travelled to Chicago with models Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Janiece Dilone. They enlisted local street dancers and the Hubbard Street Dance Company all modelling AW16 pieces to produce an uplifting short film.
After the SS17 show kicked off and buff, sporty-clad men in sandals, cycling shorts, parkas and functional tailoring stomped the runway to the sounds of Prince.
Versace was a long time friend of the musician and five months before he died Prince sent her the music echoing from the speaker. Versace honoured her friend by stepping out in purple.
